This book was written for leaders who have a strong desire to improve their personal talents and leadership skills.
Effective leadership is not something that comes easily; it is something that requires research, trial and error, common sense, and a willingness to learn. In my opinion, a person is better qualified to teach and write about effective leadership when he or she has struggled during the learning process.
Growing up, I had no desire to serve in any capacity that involved giving directions, solving major problems, making critical decisions—let alone, being responsible for other people. I struggled as a child—standing in front of a Sunday school class; therefore, a leadership position or leading anyone or anything was never in the realm of reality or choice. It was during my military years that I was thrown into a position of leading others. It was there, in the military, that I learned the true meaning of responsible leadership. From there I have served as an Elementary, Middle, and High School Administrator, a System Level Administrator, a Consultant, County Employee, and Charter School Principal.
I have had a smorgasbord of opportunities to practice my skills in leadership – and I’d like to share some of that knowledge with you.
